My Story
I am married to an amazing man; I have two daughters, two step-sons, four step-daughters, and seventeen beautiful grandchildren. (We have family bushes, no family trees). I am a born and raised Seattleite and love everything about the Northwest, well maybe not rainy January's and February's. Most of my family remains in the Seattle area which makes for large and loud family gatherings.
I currently own a private counseling business, Grace Counseling Center, where I see about thirty clients a week. I help people with anxiety issues, communication difficulties, parenting challenges, and death/dying concerns. I graduated from the University of Washington with both a Bachelor and Master of Social Work. My career began in the cancer and hospice field, and then transitioned to the critical care unit. I loved working with people who were facing our lowest common denominator—death.
Then my life was abruptly interrupted when my younger brother was diagnosed with a rare terminal cancer. I wanted to be his full-time caretaker; therefore, I had to leave my day job for a position in the emergency department where I could work evenings. After several years, and my brother’s passing, I was ready for a change so I launched my private counseling practice.
My two greatest passions are to help others learn how live the authentic life they were meant to have, and to help people who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness face it with honesty, openness, and dignity.
